Turkey has two pure chicken breeds such as Gerze and Denizli. Gerze chicken breed HACIKADI is a local breed of Gerze region of Sinop. Fork crested, facial structure of medium length and slightly hairy. The low yield of these chickens prevents them from struggling with commercial hybrids. Also, commercial production with local breeds is very limited. However, it is known that low-productive local chicken breeds are used in commercial production as a result of breeding studies in different parts of the world. Gerze chickens with low growth characteristics are in danger of extinction because they are not used in production.
